Homeowners Nate and Carolyn moved a year ago with their two sons to this 1918 arts-and-crafts bungalow. The main floor of the house retains its original arts-and-crafts charm, but the upstairs was finished very cheaply with low ceilings and an awful half bathroom. To save money, they've decided to have a contractor add a dormer or two and then do the finish work themselves. It will be finished in an arts-and-crafts style to match the main level.
In this first of four episodes, host Amy Matthews aides the homeowners with the installation of a skylight to one of two new dormers, and they cross a major item off of Carolyn's wish list by adding a laundry chute.
