A best built home is one that is energy efficient and less costly to live in. This episode of
Best Built Home explores the steps that better production builders take during construction to make a house more energy efficient. You'll meet three different families from around the country and see how their builders are taking an integrated approach to building. It starts with the concept of the building envelope where builders are able to keep the inside in -- and the outside out. Host Lynda Lyday, a DIY building expert, will explore a government program called Energy Star, which gives a new house a rating so a buyer can tell how efficient the house is. Lastly you'll see how new home builders are using the sun to generate power for the entire house -- making a home super efficient.
