    Steps:

    1. Select background paper and choose areas where you want to create niches. Place over cut foam core board (figure A).

    2. Mark the corners of the niches you want to create by piercing corner holes using Art Deckle metal ruler and needle tool (figure B).

    3. Remove paper from foam core and place on cutting mat. Using a craft knife, cut paper from corner to corner (dot to dot) to form an X (figure C).

    4. Place foam core on cutting mat and cut niches on foam core using a metal edge ruler and craft knife. Be sure to line up punch hole marks (figure D).

    5. Glue paper to foam core with a glue stick. Be sure to line things up!

    6. Fold cut edges of paper down inside the niche and crease.

    7. Turn page over and wrap remaining paper around to back of foam core and secure with glue stick. Use bone folder to crease edges (figure E).

    8. Glue coordinating paper to back of foam core to show through niches (figure F).

    9. To age paper: Apply Archival inks to paper using a Color Duster. Also add ink to edges of niches to create a shadow (figure G).

    10. Embellish with dimensional and paper mementos by gluing them inside niches or on the edge of the niche using Crafter's Pic glue (figure H).

    11. Glue mica tiles partially over the top of the niches. Allow to dry.

    12. Place finished page inside a clear page protector.

    Tips:

Use various found objects for a creative lettering look (dominoes, paper, stencils, metal, wood, plastic letters, etc.).

To create small "ink" bottles, simply fill a tiny bottle with re-inkers and glue cork inside bottle.

For faux typewriter keys, place a typewriter key sticker in a plastic Roll-a-Bind disk and fill it with Glossy Accents. Let dry.
