Projects by Sandi Reinke.Palm Pod Tassel Materials palm pod #38005 12 mahogany pods #84821 10 chocolate pods #84332 20' jute rope cup hook glue gun and hot glue sticks scissors Steps: 1. Cut a 1-inch-diameter hole in the bottom of the palm pod. 2. Dig out the palm fiber at the bottom of the pod (figure A), making a clean hole for the tassel to be glued into (figure B). 3. Loop the jute rope into 10 loops, tying in the middle (figure C); then tie again about 1-inch down from your first tie. Cut the ends, making a 20-strand tassel. 4. Use hot glue to adhere the top of the tassel into the hole at the bottom of the palm pod (figure D). 5. Hot glue one mahogany pod to the end of each strand of jute (figure E). 6. Randomly glue the chocolate pods at various spots on the jute strands (figure F). We put five on one strand, three on another and two on another. 7. Screw a cup hook into the top of the palm pod and then take it back out. Add a drop of hot glue and screw back in (figure G).

Lotus Pod TasselMaterials lotus pod #68754 12 mahogany petals #79526 "cinnamon" abaca twine #936038 large needle glue gun with hot glue sticks scissors electric drill and small drill bit Steps: 1. Drill a small hole in the flat (not curly) end of the mahogany petals. 2. Cut 12 pieces of abaca twine into 15-inch pieces and loop each piece through a petal, tying all strands together into a knot at the top (figure H). 3. Clip the center bottom of the lotus pod (figure I). 4. Thread needle with abaca twine and insert it at the top of the lotus pod, bringing the twine down through the pod and through the knot of strands. 5. Draw the needle back up through the lotus pod, pulling up and tightening the knotted strands into one of the holes on the underside of the lotus pod (figure J). 6. Tie a loop at the top of the tassel and hang.

Painted Heart Pod TasselMaterials heart pod #84719 chocolate pod # 84332 20' of 1/4" "moonlight" lingerie ribbon #930451 3" or longer needle hand drill and small drill bit acrylic paint: black, mustard gold, burnt sienna paintbrush glue gun with hot glue sticks scissors Steps: 1. Drill a small hole completely through the center of the chocolate pod (figure K). If you use a nail to make a small indentation in the middle of the pod, it will help keep the bit from sliding. 2. Paint the petals on the heart pod, alternating all three colors. Try sliding small pieces of paper between the individual "petals" (figure L) on the pod to make the painting quicker, easier and neater (figure M). 3. Loop the ribbon 12 times and tie at the top with a 14-inch piece of the same ribbon. Be sure to keep these "leader" strands separated from the looped ribbon. The looped ribbon forms your tassel. 4. Clip the bottom part of the loops and trim each ribbon end at a 45-degree angle (figure N). 5. Thread the 14-inch ties onto the needle and thread on the drilled chocolate pod (figure O), anchoring the bottom of the pod to the top of the ribbon tassel with a couple drops of hot glue. 6. Individually thread one of the leader ribbon ties from step 3 onto the needle; draw it up through one side of the heart pod and out through the top of the pod. 7. Take that ribbon leader off the needle and repeat this on the other side of the pod with the remaining leader ribbon, tightening the heart pod down snugly on the top of the chocolate pod (figure P). 8. Tie the leader ribbon ends together at the top to form a loop for hanging your tassel.
