    Steps:

    1. Condition all clays thoroughly before use. Combine one part turquoise, two parts white and one part violet clay. Roll out on the fourth thickest setting of the pasta machine (figure A).

    2. Cut out two ovals using the oval cutter (figure B).

    3. Lay the stamp on its back (face up) and spray lightly with automotive protectant spray. Lay one oval on the stamp and spray with the automotive spray. Roll the acrylic rod over the clay to impress the stamp image. Repeat on the other oval.

    4. Cut out 3 inches of beaded fringe. Place the trim on the underside of the unstamped side of one of the ovals (with stamped side facing down) (figure C). Secure with craft glue.

    5. Place the second clay oval on top of existing piece, stamped side facing up (figure D).

    6. Punch a circle into each side of the oval, approx 1/3 inch from the outside with the circle pattern cutter (figure E).

    7. Place on the side of a glass jar (figure F) and bake at 270 F degrees for 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely and set aside.

    8. Roll each conditioned block of turquoise and purple (remaining) clay separately through the largest setting of the pasta machine. Place one color on the top of the other and cut through both, creating a perfect square approximately 4" x 4".

    9. Using craft blade, slice diagonally through the entire square, creating two triangles. Peel both colors apart and set each on the top of the same color to make one turquoise and one violet triangle of double thickness. Fit the triangles together to form a perfect square (figure G).

    10. Roll this square through the thickest setting of the pasta machine (figure H).

    11. Fold in half matching turquoise to turquoise and violet to violet and pass through the thickest setting of the
    pasta machine (figure I).

    12. Repeat until a smooth gradient is achieved (about 25 or 30 passes) (figure J).

    13. Lay a piece of silver foil on one side of blended color sheet and lightly press to remove air bubbles.

    14. Cut an oblong triangle with the clay blade, making sure that the turquoise is at a tip, blending to the purple at the wide section of the triangle (figure K).

    15. Using the palm of your hand, roll the triangle away from you a few times to create a long smooth cone (figure L). Repeat until you have created several long cones.

    16. Coil each into a spiral and adhere to oval base with craft glue (figure M). Set aside.

    17. Using the craft knife, shave one end of a wooden cuticle stick to a point. Paint the entire stick with acrylic paint. Allow to dry completely.

    18. Roll a 3/4-inch ball of light blue clay and stick on the blunt end of the stick. Lightly roll the ball on the stick to create a cylinder. Coil a blended cone around cylinder (figure N).

    19. Bake both hair clip (on side of a jar) and stick at 270 F degrees for 20 minutes.
