Carol Duvall didn't have to travel to Australia to get the directions for these cute stained glass windows for little crafters to make -- she simply had to surf the Internet. The original directions featured the heart made with cellophane, but here Duvall used coffee filters from her kitchen as an easy substitute.
Materials:
construction paper colored coffee filters glue scissors pen or pencils
Steps: - To dye coffee filters, just place them in water and add a few drops of food coloring. Spread them on a newspaper or paper towel to dry, then iron flat.
- On a piece of red or black construction paper, draw a heart as pictured. For smaller children, fewer and wider bridges would be left between the different areas.
- Stack paper on top of another piece of construction paper and with small scissors, cut out heart and all inside areas so both pieces match exactly. Note: For smaller children, use only one layer.
- Cut out pieces of the dyed coffee filters and glue to the open spaces.
- Glue the second heart to the first so the colored paper pieces are sandwiched between. Add a string to hang your display in a window.
