With the talents of Kathy Lamancusa, a well-known DIY expert and regular visitor to Carol's show, a drab floral container becomes a holiday centerpiece through the addition of pine stems, moss, flowers, and a candle holder.
Materials:
floral container floral foam Spanish moss or sphagnum moss craft pins candle holder pine stems magnolia baby's breath floral tape wire ribbon wooden stick Blair Matte Spray Clear
Steps: - Place a piece of floral foam covered with Spanish moss or sphagnum moss into the centerpiece container base. Hold the moss in place with craft pins.
- Set the candle holder in the center of the moss in the container.
- Separate the pine stems into pieces, and scatter them around the outer edge of the centerpiece. Pull some of the pieces up a little to produce a natural look.
- Break the magnolia stems apart. Align a piece of wire alongside each magnolia stem, and wrap floral tape around it to make it sturdy. Fluff out the petals and stick each of the wires into the moss.
- Holding the ribbon between your thumb and forefinger, make a loop. Fold a second loop opposite the first, cutting off the excess ribbon and holding all of it together with a wooden stick. Insert this into the centerpiece.
- Spray Blair Matte Spray Clear on the baby's breath, wrap floral tape around the stems, and insert it into the foam base.
