In South Bend, Indiana, cartoonist and artist Nancy Drew visits a YWCA shelter for victims of domestic violence and abuse, where she teaches women and children how to express themselves and how to brighten their lives through paint and color. Mona Mathis, Director of YWCA Transitional Services, is pleased with the work that Nancy has done and how it improves the outlook on life that her residents have. In response, Nancy says that she tries to use her artwork to give the shelter a more homey, welcoming atmosphere to help residents along the path toward healing.
