Barbara Kuccera of Lincoln, Neb., sent in a rather goofy and fun sounding idea that we had to try and thought you might get a kick out of it. Barbara had heard about a scented embossing powder being on the market but was unable to locate any in her area, so she thought she'd try making her own--which she did--successfully! Barbara mixed Kool-Aid with her embossing powder, one to one, and it worked! She used red for strawberry, orange for orange, purple for grape, etc. Barbara said that she used the scented embossing powder as she would any standard embossing powder; that is, stamp the image, cover with embossing powder, brush away the excess, heat with heat gun (figure A). Embossed! Stamp a card, send to a friend and tell her to Scratch and sniff!
Some helpful tips and a word of caution:
- Keep your embossing powder/Kool-Aid mixture in a Zip-loc bag and label with a permanent ink pen.
- Use ONLY Kool-Aid brand unsweetened. Other brands did not work.
- Keep out of the reach of children. The Kool-Aid is no longer edible.
- Use solid image stamps for better coverage.
