    Materials:

    book box
    2-1/2-inch paintbrush
    French yellow base coat
    burnt sienna glaze
    satin varnish
    pounce brush
    gold paint
    small wooden buttons
    wood glue
    cheesecloth
    Faux Kit 6 - Leather kit

    Create the look of aged leather on a simple book box.

    Steps:

    1. Apply two coats of French yellow base coat (figure A). Let the first coat dry for two hours before applying the second coat.

    2. Pounce burnt sienna glaze over entire surface of the book box (figure B).

    3. Randomly dab cheesecloth over the surface of the box to soften and add texture to the glaze (figure C).

    4. Crumple a plastic bag and press it onto the glaze to create a crackled look (figure D). Let dry overnight and apply two coats of varnish.

    5. Paint pages of the book with gold paint (figure E).

    6. Paint wooden buttons with gold paint and glue them in a random pattern over front of the book (figure F).
