    Figure F

Project designed by Wendy Simpson Conner.

    Materials:

    tapestry needle
    two twisted wire needles
one-inch button (preferably with a shank)
    beads and charms
spool of medium- to dark-colored F-weight silk thread
    clipboard
    Scotch tape
    watch crystal cement

    Steps:

    1. Cut 10 lengths of one-yard long silk thread. Cut an eleventh piece measuring two yards long. Fold over the bundle of 10 threads, and using the long thread, tie the bundle together with a square knot (figure A). Thread a tapestry needle with the long thread.

    2. At the looped end, divide the bundle of threads into two parts. Weave the long piece of thread around the two sections in a figure-eight pattern to create a buttonhole (figure B).

    3. When the buttonhole is completed, attach the piece to a clipboard to hold it in place. Weave down in thread about an inch and add beads (figure C). Use twisted wire needles to help thread the beads. Keep working in this manner, adding beads and charms as desired (figure D).

    5. When the bracelet is the desired length, cut the end of the bundle of threads at an angle.

    6. Add a button at the end of the bracelet so that it fits through the buttonhole to secure the bracelet (figure E). Reinforce the threads with watch crystal cement (figure F). Let dry.
