Chain stitch Steps:
1. Tie a knot at the end of the thread and poke the needle through the fabric from the bottom side. Pull the thread through the fabric.
2. Thread the needle down through the same hole, and then poke it back through the material about 1/4 inch in front of the original hole so that the thread is pulled through the loop created (figure A).
3. Thread the needle down through the loop again, bringing it back up through the fabric 1/4 inch in front of the loop (figure B). Continue this pattern to create a chain stitch.
