    Project designed by Pat DeSantis.

    Materials:

    purchased chenille pillow and afghan
Thick & Quick chenille yarn from Lion
Bloom Loom from Boye Needle Company (figure A)

    Steps:

    Chenille Flowers

Follow directions that come with the Bloom Loom to make several flowers with the chenille yarn (figure B).

    Finger-Crocheted Vine (figure C)

    1. Wrap the end of the cord around your index finger twice.

    2. Pull loop 1 over loop 2 and off of your finger. You will have one loop remaining on your finger, which will become loop 1.

    3. Wrap one more loop of cord around your finger, creating a new loop 2.

    4. Pull loop 1 over the new loop 2 and off your finger. Tighten the beginning of braid, forming the first knot.

    5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 and continue to tighten the braid.

    6. Continue to finger crochet (figure D) the cord until you have the desired length.

    7. Tie the final knot at end of the cord and trim excess.

    Assembly

    1. After crocheting a "vine" with the finger-crochet method, draw a tangling, swirling pattern on the pillow front and on the afghan.

    2. Stitch (or fuse) the crochet chain in place along the swirl pattern, forming a leaf outline here and there if desired.

    3. Add flowers to the vine.

    Tips:

    • You can make different flowers by using regular yarn (figure E).
    • Use yarn flowers to decorate packages and more (figure F).
