Project designed by Lesley Carlson. Materials:
two 2'-square sheets of plywood twelve 4" - 5" lengths of 1/2" or 3/4" diameter wooden dowels drill with drill bit or hole saw to match the dowel diameter wood glue paint or wood stain - optional materials to form and decorate wreaths - vines, flowers, berries, herbs, etc. twine
Steps:
Wreath Jig - Draw a large circle on one sheet of plywood utilizing as much of the wood as possible. Use a pencil to divide the circle into 12 equal wedge sections. Inside each wedge, make equidistant marks around the circumference of the circle similar to a clock face.
- Using the drill, make holes at the each equidistant mark.
- Glue the sheets of plywood together like a sandwich.
- Put wood glue into each hole on the boards, then insert the dowels to create jig pegs. Gently hammer the dowels in if necessary to ensure a snug fit. Allow glue to dry thoroughly.
Wreath - Line the interior of the wreath jig circle (inside the pegs) with vines or other wreath foundation material. Tuck in all raw ends to create a finished look.
- Tie twine around the vine wreath at various intervals to secure wreath shape.
- Embellish wreath with flowers, berries, herbs, etc. Use embellishments to hide the twine binding.
