Crossdye rayon-acetate velvet from Hot Potatoes
Steps: - Measure length and width of tablecloth or table to determine the size of the table runner. Cut out a rectangle of this size, adding 2" to overall pattern size. For instance, if a 48" x 17" table runner is desired, the fabric should be cut to 50" by 19".
- To create the pointed ends of table runner pattern, measure 8" from each end of the pattern. Draw a line across the short width of pattern at each end, measuring 8" from the bottom edge of pattern. At very bottom edge of each end, measure to the middle point and mark. On a 19" pattern, mark at 9 1/2" point. Using the line that marks the 8" point, draw a straight line from side of pattern to middle point at end of pattern. Repeat on other end of pattern. Cut out pattern.
- Pin pattern to velvet. Cut out one piece.
- Pin pattern to lining. Cut out one piece.
- Sew the lining and the velvet, right sides together, leaving a 6" to 8" opening. Press seams open on the lining side.
- Attach one tassel to each pointed end of the table runner.
Tip: - For a quick table runner, use double-sided adhesive fabric tape to secure lining to velvet. Leave a 6" to 8" opening so the runner can be turned right side out. Press and use on table, then sew later.
