    Project designed by Paulina Tosches.

    Materials:

    wooden baby crib
    scroll saw
    drill
1" thick piece wood (length/width vary)
    12-18 wood screws
    medium grit sandpaper
latex paints in following colors - cream, plum, green, lemon yellow, pink
    2" paintbrush
    artist paintbrushes
    light oak wood stain
    cotton rag
clear spray-on sealer in satin or matte finish

    Steps:

    1. Dismantle both the headboard and footboard from crib.
    2. Find center of footboard and saw in half. Sand any rough edges.
    3. Use a hammer and nail to create a "starter hole" for a screw.
    4. Attach the footboard halves to sides of the headboard with wood screws along the perimeter to ensure a strong hold.
    5. Measure the length and width between the two sides where bench seat will be positioned. Saw a 1"-thick piece of plywood per these measurements.
    6. Attach plywood to sides of bench using wood screws as in steps 3 and 4. Attach one screw to every other rail to ensure strong hold.
    7. Base-coat bench with cream color using a 2" brush. Allow to dry.
    8. Using smaller artist brushes, paint roses on bench in various colors. Allow to dry.
    9. Lightly sand over bench, including the flower design, to create a weathered look.
    10. Use cotton rag to apply stain to entire crib bench in long strokes. Let dry for 24 hours.
    11. Spray entire bench with clear sealer.
Tip: Benches can be used to display potted flowers in a patio or garden setting.
