  • Original Stamp Convention
  • From "Carol Duvall Show"
    episode CDS-407
    advertisement

At the Original Rubber Stamp Convention, Carol Duvall's crew found many interesting artisans who allowed their imaginations to run wild in their works. One such person is Carlos Canto, from Alextamping. His Pivot Palette - a spinning, ink-it-yourself, ink pad - was quite spectacular.

While the palette was spinning, he simply took stamp markers and touched the palette to release the colors. The result was a very unique color palette that was appealing to all.

Another participant, Denise Lew from Vicon, Inc., made character cards on which the eyes really move. She stamped the image on a card and cut the eyes out with an X-Acto knife. The eyes were then attached with a brad on the inside of the card. The convention also allowed the crew to witness that there's no limit to what Dee Gruenig might do with stamps. This familiar personality showed how to dress up a plain white monthly calendar with images made by a brayer roller. She inked a tree stamp, then took a brayer roller and rolled it over the stamp so that it picked up the ink. She inked and rolled two or three more times, then rolled the brayer on the calendar. This technique resulted in a dimensional forest effect.
