Project by Lacey Oldham.Materials:
two 4" x 2" round foam disks
silk flower bush with leaves
clear votive candle holder
1 yard raffia or 1-1/2" French wired ribbon
moss
hot glue gun
glue sticks
wire cutters
scissors
Steps:1. Glue the two foam disks with hot glue and set aside (figure A).
2. With wire cutters, cut off all of the flower heads leaving at least 2-1/2 inches of the wired stem attached. Peel off all of the leaves on the bush.
3. Starting on the bottom of the foam, glue the leaves so they are overlapping each other and pointing up towards the top of the foam (figure B). Continue around the base. Glue the next row of leaves just above the first row so no foam is showing, and continue around the foam. Do as many rows as necessary to completely cover the foam.
4. Glue the clear votive to the top of the foam disk.
5. Around the outside of the votive candle cup, place a small bead of hot glue. Attach Spanish moss to the edges of the votive (figure C). Note: Do not let hot glue get anywhere else on the surface of the foam, or the flowers will not punch through in the next step.
6. Push the stems of the roses straight down around the candle cup (figure D). If any spaces are showing on the foam, cover it with more moss or add flower heads pulled off the stems (figure E).
7. Tie several strands of raffia around the center (figure F).
