Knife-Drawer Organizer

Materials:

circular saw
safety glasses
plywood
wood glue
clamps
sandpaper
polyurethane

A knife-drawer organizer will help keep your knives organized and protect their blades.

1. Measure the width and depth of the drawer, and transfer the measurements to a piece of plywood. Use a circular saw to cut the plywood to fit inside the drawer (figure K). Make sure to wear safety glasses.

2. Cut 1" by 2" boards about half the length of the drawer, and glue them to one end of the plywood (figure L). Space the boards about 1/4" apart so that you can fit knife blades between them.

1. Place another piece of plywood over the top of the boards, and clamp it in place until the glue dries (figure M). Sand the organizer smooth, and apply a coat of polyurethane sealant.

2. Lay the organizer in the drawer so that the wooden blocks are in the back, and place the knives in their slots (figure N).
