Knife-Drawer Organizer Materials: circular saw safety glasses plywood wood glue clamps sandpaper polyurethane A knife-drawer organizer will help keep your knives organized and protect their blades. - Measure the width and depth of the drawer, and transfer the measurements to a piece of plywood. Use a circular saw to cut the plywood to fit inside the drawer (figure K). Make sure to wear safety glasses.
- Cut 1" by 2" boards about half the length of the drawer, and glue them to one end of the plywood (figure L). Space the boards about 1/4" apart so that you can fit knife blades between them.
- Place another piece of plywood over the top of the boards, and clamp it in place until the glue dries (figure M). Sand the organizer smooth, and apply a coat of polyurethane sealant.
- Lay the organizer in the drawer so that the wooden blocks are in the back, and place the knives in their slots (figure N).
