Here's a cool project for your teenage scrapbooker. But don't reveal the source ! Just print out the project and templates, and claim ignorance when they run across it. Hours of fun may ensue!

Cover a scrapbook cover with faux fur and use animal print paper to add decorative borders and frames to the pages. My 17-year-old daughter Elizabeth allowed me to embellish two pages of her personal scrapbook with animal print paper, and even she thinks the result is pretty cool.

    Animal Print Scrapbook Cover

After a fruitless fabric store search for great-looking animal print fur, I found the perfect solution, Funky Fur, at my local art store. Funky Fur comes with its own sheet of double stick adhesive, and sized at 9" x 12", it fits the cover of an average-sized scrapbook cover perfectly. It comes in a variety of patterns, including leopard, jaguar, cougar, tiger, pony and zebra.

    Materials:

    8-1/2" x 11" scrapbook

    Funky Fur

    1. The cover of an 8-1/2" x 11" scrapbook is approximately 9-3/4" x 11-1/4". Funky Fur, which measures 9" x 12", fits perfectly on this size scrapbook, wrapping to the inside of the cover at the top and bottom. Peel the protective paper off one side of the double-stick adhesive sheet included with the Funky Fur. Center the adhesive sheet on the scrapbook cover, sticky side down, and wrap it to the inside of the cover at the top and bottom.

    2. Peel the other sheet of protective paper off the sheet of adhesive and carefully position the Funky Fur on it. Smooth in place.

    3. If you find that the Funky Fur does not adhere adequately to the inside of the cover, you may want to glue, tape, or stitch it in place.

    4. More Funky Fur Fun: Adhere Funky Fur to one side of the two-sided adhesive sheet, draw a design on the paper backing, and then cut the pattern out. Remove the paper backing and attach your design to the cover of a photo album or scrapbook, or to a picture frame or eyeglass case. For best results when attaching Funky Fur to fabric, use fabric adhesive or stitch in place.

    Animal Print Scrapbook Pages

Add wild cutouts--hearts, borders and frames--to your scrapbook pages with origami animal print paper. One small packet of paper contains zebra, tiger, leopard , elephant and alligator prints.

    Materials:

    scrapbook
photos, clippings and other memorabilia for scrapbook pages
fold 'Ems Origami Paper (animal patterns)
    pattern templates
glue stick or photo mounting adhesive
    scissors
craft knife and self-healing cutting mat
    straightedge
    scrapbooking markers

    1. Do a preliminary layout of photos and clippings on the scrapbook page.

    2. Print templates on cardstock and cut out. A craft knife used with a straightedge works best for cutting out frames on both cardstock and decorative paper. Small curvy shapes are easiest to cut with small sharp craft scissors.

    3. Use the templates to trace patterns on the animal print paper, then cut out.

    4. Use a glue stick or photo adhesive to mount photos on squares of the animal print paper. If you're embellishing an already created scrapbook page, frame the photos using the frame templates.

    5. Finish your page with glued-on border patterns and hearts, and remember to add some spicy notes and journaling.

Products: Funky Fur and Fold "ems Origami paper can be found at most scrapbooking supplies or craft stores.
