To create this mosaic border from small paper squares, Eldenburg uses re-positionable adhesive to affix the paper to the mat, then used the free-arm cutter to cut the edges.

The cutter is also used to cut frames from paper squares. The absence of a cutting base makes the cutter easily positionable.

A chiseler can remove or reposition stickers as needed.

Designer Becky Eldenburg shares a few of her favorite cool tools with DIY Scrapbooking host Sandi Genovese.

    • Hermafix Adhesive: A non-permanent, repositionable adhesive, great for holding items in place during cutting or embellishment. Here, Eldenburg uses the adhesive to hold her mosaic pieces and base sheet to the cutting mat.

    • Scrappin' Mat: Working with a mat is a great way to protect work surfaces, as well as facilitate easy measuring and cutting. The Scrappin' Mat features grid lines for placement and measurement, and when used with a free-arm cutter -- which doesn't have a cumbersome base -- can be used to cut paper or other embellishments as desired. Here, Eldenburg uses this type of cutter to trim the edges of the mosaic pieces so they are even with the paper's edge, then uses it to trim a mat from decorative paper.

    • Chiseler: This chisel allows stickers to be peeled safely away from a surface, then repositioned as desired.
