Flip-ups and fold-outs are a great way to add extra journaling and photos to your page. Here, Desiree Tanner uses the technique to create "mini albums within an album". Materials: Deep Water and Marbled Plaid Soft Watercolor Paper Collection Apple Red Color Wheel Paper Collection Snowflake Die-cut Gel pens Red heart mini-brads Fibers and Threads A variety of themed stickers and letters Chalks Dimensional glue dots Coil binding - Select photos and draw a simple sketch of your "album within an album'" Your sketch will give you a blue print to follow so that you know how many pages, flip ups or pictures you will include.
- Create the cover page or 'front'. Remember to leave an area clear to make a cut through this page -- this will be your opening. Plan your front page so that you can tie it shut with ribbon, raffia, mini-brads or buttons. This example doesn't include a tie closure, but was instead planned so that the front pieces overlap 1/2" when closed).
- Create the inside of your mini-album. Position your pictures as you would any page including fun techniques like a coil bound album, pop-up snowflakes with a mini-brad embellishment in the center, or tiny tags accented with small stickers or letters.
