Instead of just adhering tags and titles to your page -- why not try stitching them in place for a hand-crafted look?

Stephanie Barnard shares a hearfelt page with host Sandi Genovese. Barnard uses accents that are "sew" perfect -- stitchery and charms!

    Materials:

    Heart charms
    Small crystal embellishments
    Red embroidery floss or fibers
    Needle-tip tool
    Tag and heart-shaped die-cuts
    Heart stamps
    Versamark pad
Black and red sheets of cardstock
    Kraft-colored cardstock
    Black journaling pen or marker
    Cross-stitch needle
    Temporary adhesive
    Photo splits
    Pencil
    Scrapbooking glue or adhesive

    1. Die-cut tags and heart shapes. Adhere temporary adhesive to the back of the large and medium heart die- cuts. Layer the large heart die-cut over the tag die-cut. Use the needle tip tool to poke holes through the tag, around the heart shape. (Tip: The further apart the holes, the longer your stitches will be.) After punching holes around the large heart die-cut, center the medium heart die-cut within the larger outline and repeat the same technique.

    2. To stitch the heart shape onto the tag, thread needle and begin from back surface. Bring your needle through the first hole on the largest heart -- pull thread almost all the way through, but leave a little at the end. This small piece can be secured to the back of the tag with a photo split.

    3. Next, push needle down through hole two. Now you have one stitch. Go up through hole three, and down through hole two to make stitch number two (figure A). Continue with this backstitch all the way around the largest heart.

    4. In three spots, add a silver heart charm by going through the back of the charm (figure B), and then continue stitching. Repeat technique to complete the medium heart shape.

    5. Next, adhere the small die cut heart and crystal (figure C). Add background tag die-cut and fibers.

    6. Handwrite title with a pencil on black cardstock. Use same backstitch technique to stitch title. Add charm to a letter (in this case, a heart charm "dots the i"). Adhere piece to red cardstock.

    7. Trim 1/8" all the way around the kraft-colored cardstock. Adhere to the black cardstock. Stamp heart randomly on kraft cardstock.

    8. Double-mat photo on red, then black cardstock.

    9. Adhere photo, title and tag to page.
