Decorative scissors
- First, take 2 sheets of 12" x 12" paper and seam them together. Measure across the sheets: 2-1/8", 1-1/2", 3-1/4", 1-1/2" and 2-7/8", then repeat. Fold forward, then backward on each side to form a box pleat -- very much like the kind found on a wedding dress.
- Next, punch small holes at 1/2" intervals along both sides of the seams. Lace the holes with ribbon (figure A).
- Then, create two small vellum accordion-style books (figure B). Mount two small photographs inside each book, using the vellum as a "veil" through which the photos will be viewed.
- Tie ribbon around the vellum to close and mount one of each side of the page. Mount printed captions -- if desired -- below each vellum accordion book.
- For journaling, laser print onto platinum repousse paper in a 2-1/2" x 9" column. Cut a piece of gold solid paper 1/8" larger than the journal piece. Trim the edges of both pages with decorative scissors as an accent. Mount journal piece to the gold background, then mount in center of page.
- To create a "garter," border, cut 3/4" strips of striped paper. Apply tape to back of strips, then fold in small 1/4" pleats. Attach to page.
- To complete the garter, cover buttom with paper, then pleat vellum in fan shape (figure C).
- Mount the fan-shaped vellum at top and bottom of journaling. Add a paper-covered button to center of fan base (figure D).
