A variety of patterns can be created by using the bleach technqiue, switching the Rollagraph cartridges and selecting different paper shades.

Linda Sarine shares some of her unusual techniques for creating vintage-style paper designs.

    Lace Background

    Materials:

    Magic Stamp block
    Lace fabric
    Heat gun
    White pigment ink
    Medium-dark colored background paper

    1. Begin by heating a Magic Stamp block using a heat tool (figure A).

    2. Press the stamp onto a piece of lace (figure B) to imprint the design onto the stamp surface.

    3. Cover the imprinted Magic Stamp with white pigment ink (figure C), then press stamp onto medium-dark colored paper in a random pattern (figure D) to create the appearance of "lace". Re-ink between each application for a clearer design.

    Bleached Paper Designs

    Materials:

    RollagraphB.
Paper towels soaked with liquid bleach
    Protected work surface
    Dark cardstock
    Acid-free mist or fixative

    1. First, layer the bleach-soaked paper towels on a paper plate or paint tray on a protected surface.

    2. Roll the Rollagraph tool (figure E) over the bleach-soaked towels.

    3. Roll over dark cardstock in a random pattern (figure F), rolling through bleach between applications as necessary.
