Burgundy and Black Generation Layout From "Scrapbooking" episode SCB-241

Vellum envelopes are a great way to add historic documents to your heritage pages. The subtle black rose border (on the right edge) carries the same color scheme and motif throughout the album. The subtle colors and delicate textures of vintage photographs require pages that complement, but don't overpower. Designer Shelli Gardner uses black and burgundy as elegant accent colors for black and white heritage photos and old documents.

Materials:

12" x 12" burgundy cardstock
12" x 12" black cardstock
8-1/2" x 11" vanilla cardstock
Black ink pad
Tinted ink pad
Stampin' Up! Elegant Embroidery stamp set
Stampin' Up! Just Journaling stamp set
Jumbo square punch
12" x 12" paper trimmer
Adhesive
Black organdy ribbon
Embossing heat gun
Black archival pen

1. First, trim 1/4" from the top and side of the burgundy cardstock, then using black ink pad to stamp a rose border along the left side.

2. Next, stamp four corner images onto vanilla cardstock (figure A), leaving room between each stamped image for punching.

3. Flip punch upside down and position the vanilla cardstock in the punch area ( figure B). Punch the image and repeat until all have been punched from the cardstock.

4. Then, punch four black squares. Position black squares behind the vanilla cardstock squares -- slightly off-set -- and adhere (figure C).

5. Mount photo to black cardstock so only 1/8" border surrounds the photo. Mount matted photo to the page.

6. Adhere the vanilla and black combination squares tot he corners of each photo, placing each so that the rose faces the photograph.

7. Use heat gun to "curl" the black organdy ribbon. Cut ribbon approximately 5" long and tie in center. Hold ribbon knot between fingers while applying heat. Move heat embossing gun closer to ribbon, then quickly pull away as the ribbon curls.

8. Adhere the ribbon below photograph. Stamp journaling lines with tinted ink and journal as desired.
