Create this clever window envelope to enhance thank you cards or invitations. Watch this video to learn how!

Dee Greunig creates a birthday "thank-you" card, complete with a special envelope that gives the recipient a sneak peek of what's inside!

    Materials:

Reduced color photocopy of chosen photograph, copied onto adhesive paper
    Plain envelope
    Rubber stamp with birthday motif
    Stamping ink or pens
    Craft knife
    Cardstock to match envelope
    Mini cutting mat
    Tape

    1. Begin by embellish envelope to suit the theme and colors of the photograph. In this example, Greunig uses pens to add stripes to the envelope surface (figure A).

    2. Use a rubber stamp with a birthday motif to stamp onto adhesive paper. Tip: Select a stamp with a blank center area, like this birthday cake (figure B).

    3. Cut the motif away from the page, remove release sheet and secure stamped design to left side of envelope front.

    4. Then, to cut window, slide mini cutting mat into the envelope and use craft knife to cut blank area from adhered design (figure C). Press hard enough to cut through the envelope surface.

    5. Cut cardstock to fit envelope. Use tape to temporarily secure the photocopied reduction to the card.

    6. Slide card into window to check placement. If placement is satisfactory, peel backing from photo and secure photo to card.

    7. Use pen to ink the stamp with multiple colors and press stamp firmly on card's surface next to photo. Tip: If ink starts to dry too quickly, simply blow on the stamp's surface. The warm, moist air will re-moisten the ink.

    8. Alter this technique to create invitations, or add to a scrapbook page (figure D).
