Can't figure out how to incorporate vacation mementos as part of your scrapbook layouts? Host Sandi Genovese shares her techniques for preserving vacation memorabilia as part of the page.

    Mardi Gras Mementos

    Materials:

    flower, leaf and mask die-cuts
    paper in assorted colors
    clear page protector
    envelope die
    acid-free adhesive and double-sided tape
    silver pen
    foam dots

    1. First, create a pocket that will store beads and other dimensional mementos. Cut a small triangle of paper from the same color as the background paper. Trim with a contrasting color and use foam dots around the edges to adhere to background pages. Tip: Don't discard the adhesive material surrounding the foam dots. Use it in the same manner as foam dots are used to adhere die-cuts, pop-ups and other dimensional pieces to scrapbook pages.

    2. Use clear page protector and envelope die to cut an envelope that will collect and protect memorabilia.

    3. Assemble and embellish page as desired.

    Vacation Pages

As a variation, Genovese also creates a vacation page that documents the restaurants and special meals experienced on the vacation trip.

    • The photos are revealed by pulling them from a slot created on the page.

    • A journaling square and memory button capture the experience in words and sound and create an interactive page.

    • To reveal the photographs, Genovese cuts a slot through the paper. A photograph is added to a piece of paper or cardstock that fits the slot. A themed die-cut shape is adhered above the photo. Finally, the base of the insert is pushed through the slot.
