Don't be afraid to imagine new uses for your basic punches! This ice cream cone was achieved with basic geometric punches and a large flower punch. Die-cut bubbles are used as a "whipped cream" embellishment.

Punches are some of the most versatile tools used in scrapbooking. This "Ice Cream Cone" was created by using basic punch shapes to create the cone, ice cream and toppings.

    Materials:

    Brown paper or cardstock
Cardstock or paper in a variety of brights or pastels
    Cone or triangle punch
    Pattern crimper
    Flower punch
    White cardstock or paper
    Red cardstock or paper
    Small circular punch
    Die-cut bubble punch
    Brown paper
Brown chalk and cotton swabs or colored pencils
    White gel pen
    Glue

    1. To create the cone, use triangle or cone punch to punch the shape from brown cardstock or paper (figure A).

    2. Then, roll cone shape through pattern crimper (figure B) to create diamond "cone" pattern on paper's surface. (For best results, insert paper through the back of the crimper.)

    3. Next, apply chalk with cotton swabs or use colored pencils to shade indentations on the cone. A white gel pen can be used to add highlights.

    4. Use flower punch to create "ice cream". Simply punch several flowers from several colors of pastel or bright paper or cardstock.

    5. Cut flower shapes in half to create layered ice cream "scoops". Layer scoops and top with cone shape (figure C).

    6. Use circular punches and bubble die-cut shapes to top the cone with a "cherry" and "whipped cream" (figure D).

    7. Affix finished cone to page.
