Jenny Dean and Barbara Kotsos shares ideas for making the most of color printing.

    • A color printer is a valuable tool for creating custom page designs -- borders, graphic elements and backgrounds can be printed directly from the computer. Many websites offer libraries of free clip art and photo images that can be downloaded for use in scrapbook layouts.

    • Don't risk damaging original photos in scrapbooking layouts -- simply scan and print duplicates instead. Today's color printers and paper selections make printed copies almost indistinguishable from the original (figure A).

    • Photo sticker paper allows photos to be used in a fun way. Stickers can embellish envelopes, invitations or page layouts. Epson Photo Stickers (TM) come with 12 stickers per sheet (figure B).

    • A digital camera (figure C) can streamline the process of digital printing. Digital cameras are hooked to the computer, where the image is downloaded and printed. A few even allow direct downloads to the printer. Alternately, the downloaded images can be submitted to an online photo developer who will make prints and return them via mail.
