For picture-perfect cropping, try a swivel knife and acrylic template. Desiree Tanner, of Provo Craft, demonstrates the clear-cut way to get the most from this gadget. Copies of favorite photographs
Clear acrylic template
Swivel knife (or craft knife)
Cutting mat
Scissors
- The versatile acrylic template (figure A) is clear -- for precision cutting -- and allows different-sized squares or circles to be cut. Tip: Use a special cutting mat to protect your work surface when using these tools.
- Begin by placing photo directly onto the cutting mat. Apply template directly over the photo to be cut.
- Next, place swivel knife (figure B) into selected template "track".
- Follow track as you smoothly cut the photograph (figure C).
- Finish the cut with scissors to release the cropped area from original photograph.
