Vivian Peritts shares a method that takes corner punches to new levels of design. This intricate border, was created by using three layers of interlaced cardstock -- and only one punch! Materials: 8-1/2" x 6" white, clay and aqua cardstock (one of each color) 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock in light green 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock in medium green Decorative punch Glue Double-sided adhesive Ruler and pencil - Begin by tracing and cutting an oval shape from aqua cardstock.
- Next, place oval shape on white cardstock. Use pencil to trace around first oval onto white cardstock. Tip: Always trace on the back surface of cardstock or paper so that marks can be hidden. Cut white oval 1/4" larger than tracing.
- Remove guides from corner punch and punch inside pencil line around entire (white) oval (figure A).
- Interlace the blue oval with the white oval (figure B) by weaving edge of oval within the punched design on edge of white oval.
- Then, place interlaced blue and white ovals on clay cardstock. Trace around perimeter of white oval and cut clay oval 1/4" larger than tracing.
- Mark position of punches on white oval onto the back surface of the clay oval (figure C) so that all punches aren't in same position on all ovals.
- Punch along traced line and markings on clay cardstock (figure D).
- Interweave the combined white and blue oval with the punched clay oval (figure E).
- Place interwoven ovals on medium green cardstock. Trace and cut green oval 1" larger than the clay oval. Punch along entire outer edge of green oval (figure F).
- Next, use craft knife to cut center away from medium green oval. Punch along inner opening.
- Interweave three layered ovals with green oval border and adhere to light green cardstock.
- Finally, add photographs and titling as desired. In this example, Peritts uses her oval background as a "swimming pool" to showcase summer photographs.
