Watch this video tip to see how easily a corner punch can be modified for use on any size or area of paper.

Vivian Peritts shares a method that takes corner punches to new levels of design. This intricate border, was created by using three layers of interlaced cardstock -- and only one punch!

    Materials:

8-1/2" x 6" white, clay and aqua cardstock (one of each color)
    8-1/2" x 11" cardstock in light green
    8-1/2" x 11" cardstock in medium green
    Decorative punch
    Glue
    Double-sided adhesive
    Ruler and pencil

    1. Begin by tracing and cutting an oval shape from aqua cardstock.

    2. Next, place oval shape on white cardstock. Use pencil to trace around first oval onto white cardstock. Tip: Always trace on the back surface of cardstock or paper so that marks can be hidden. Cut white oval 1/4" larger than tracing.

    3. Remove guides from corner punch and punch inside pencil line around entire (white) oval (figure A).

    4. Interlace the blue oval with the white oval (figure B) by weaving edge of oval within the punched design on edge of white oval.

    5. Then, place interlaced blue and white ovals on clay cardstock. Trace around perimeter of white oval and cut clay oval 1/4" larger than tracing.

    6. Mark position of punches on white oval onto the back surface of the clay oval (figure C) so that all punches aren't in same position on all ovals.

    7. Punch along traced line and markings on clay cardstock (figure D).

    8. Interweave the combined white and blue oval with the punched clay oval (figure E).

    9. Place interwoven ovals on medium green cardstock. Trace and cut green oval 1" larger than the clay oval. Punch along entire outer edge of green oval (figure F).

    10. Next, use craft knife to cut center away from medium green oval. Punch along inner opening.

    11. Interweave three layered ovals with green oval border and adhere to light green cardstock.

    12. Finally, add photographs and titling as desired. In this example, Peritts uses her oval background as a "swimming pool" to showcase summer photographs.
