Trying to pry photos stuck to the magnetic album page can irreparably damage photos. Scrapbooking host Michele Gerbrandt offers a few tricks for easy removal.

    • The thinness of dental floss is perfect for sliding under the corner of a photo to gently cut through the adhesive as the photo is pulled up (figure A).

    • A chiseler is thin and flat to slide easily under the photo (figure B) and cut through adhesive.

    • Liquid adhesive remover is good for use with black albums. These albums have paper that is acidic and damaging to photographs. This photo-safe liquid can be applied a little at a time under the photo as it is loosened and lifted off the page.

    • Once photos are removed from damaging surfaces, Gerbrandt suggests the use of photo corners or mounting sleeves (figure C) to protect and display treasured items. Both are photo safe and easily removed.
