    Figure C

This stunning technique will keep you saving your precious scraps of cardstock! By following a few simple steps, you can create a page or card embellishment that will amaze your friends!

    Materials

Art Deco Paper Collection and Alphabet Stickers
    Long blade scissors
    2 pieces double-sided tape, approximately 2" x 6"
Scraps of paper at least 2-3/4" wide
    Mizuhiki paper cord
Rotary quilting blade or ruler and utility knife

    1. Cut strips of paper at least 2-1/2" wide at random angles (figure A) with the long scissors. Use a variety of colors and treated papers.

    2. Remove one side of the backing from a strip of double-sided tape (at least 2" wide) and lay on a flat surface, sticky side up.

    3. Place a strip of paper at the top edge of the tape, then a piece of Mizuhiki paper cord, followed by a strip of a different colored paper. Continue this process until the entire strip of tape has been covered (figure B). Trim paper and cord that overlaps the edge of the tape.

    4. Use a quality rotary blade to cut the border (figure C) into long strips, about 1/2" wide. (If a trimmer is not available, use a ruler and craft knife.)

    5. Switch the direction of every other strip so that the colors are rearranged to produce a mosaic effect. Remove the backing from one of the strips, and stick to the second sheet of double-sided tape. Separate strips with a length of Mizuhiki cord. Repeat process until all strips have been used.

    6. Use the mosaic to accent your page title, or create a border or frame. Incorporate snippets of photos to the mosaic design! Further embellish with glitter glues, tiny beads, fibers ... the possibilities are limitless!
