Designer Suzanne McNeill shares her technique for creating lacy accents by embossing vellum.

Click here for printable bonnet pattern (enlarge or reduce as needed).

Patterns may be viewed by using

    Materials:

    Dress and bonnet pattern
Foam craft pad or mouse pad
    Craft knife or scissors
    Vellum
    Pencil
    Stylus
Yellow cardstock (or other color as desired)
    Paper doll

    1. Position dress and bonnet pattern on foam pad. Place vellum over patterns.

    2. Use pencil to trace outer edges of dress.

    3. Use stylus to create embossed details by drawing a scalloped hem, cuffs and bonnet ruffle (figure A).

    4. Cut out dress along scalloped edges and outline.

    5. Cut bow, ribbon, dress trim and petticoat from white vellum.

    6. Cut legs from paper doll and cover remainder of body with petticoat. Layer dress (embossed side up) over the petticoat, then layer dressed doll over head and arms (figure B).

    7. Adhere all pieces and add to page as desired.
