Angie Randall shares her dimensional chalking technique with host Sandi Genovese, and offers a few tips for creating dimension on an ocean-themed page.

    Materials:

    Patterned
    White cardstock
    Vellum
    4 sand dollar die cuts
    2 sea shell die cuts
    2 sand castle die cuts
    Black Slick Writer
    Pink and brown chalk
    Foam tape by 3M
    Craft knife
    Transparent adhesive tabs

    1. Mount photos on white cardstock and arrange on patterned cardstock..

    2. Score, layer and chalk each die cut and place one in each circle shape. Secure with dimensional foam tape to elevate from page.

    3. Add title and journaling on vellum, tear around words and attach to photos with transparent adhesive.

Tips: Dimension can be achieved in many ways, chalking, layering, scoring, etc. Scoring is the art of making small creases on the backside of a die cut or other shape, then folding along the scored creases. You can take it one step further by shading the shape with chalks. The look is a very 3-dimensional embellishment.

    Scoring Technique

    1. On the backside of a selected die-cut (here,a seashell is used), use a dull craft knife to lightly create score lines without cutting through to the front surface (figure C) .

    2. Fold accordion style along the score lines. Use chalk to shadow where the die cut has been folded. Add to page.
