    Figure D

Black pages accented with metallic colors are elegant additions to any scrapbook. Here, artist Linda Sarine shares her gilding techniques with DIY Scrapbooking host Sandi Genovese.

    Materials:

    Variegated Metal Leafing
    Duo Adhesive Glue
    Pearl Ex powders
    Texture sponge
    Sea sponge
    Rubber stamps
    Black cardstock
    Paintbrush set

    Metallic Leafing

    1. Sponge or brush a small amount of Duo Adhesive onto a rubber stamp (figure A), then quickly press stamp to black cardstock. Remove the stamp from the cardstock and allow stamped motif to dry clear.

    2. Once motif has dried to clear, it becomes tacky. Place metallic leafing on top of the stamped motif (figure B), then press. Use a textured sponge to lightly brush excess leafing from the cardstock.

    Pearlescent Texture

    1. Use a sea sponge to dab Duo Adhesive onto black cardstock. Don't cover the entire page -- but create any pattern you desire.

    2. Allow glue to dry, the tap different shades of Pearl Ex pigment powders over the cardstock surface (figure C).

    3. Blend colors with a dry brush (figure D), brushing away excess powder as you work.
