Bearnson texturized the background paper on this page by misting the paper with water, crunching, then allowing the paper to dry. Bearnson says the entire page -- including the texturizing process -- only took 20 minutes!

Lisa Bearnson offers a few techniques to get the most impact from cardstock.

    Curled Frame

    Materials:

    Cardstock
Pencil or scissors (to punch hole)
    Water

    1. To create frame, first punch hole in center of cardstock using scissors or sharpened pencil point (figure A).

    2. Use fingers to begin tearing hole (figure B). Tear the hole just large enough to frame the photo you've selected.

    3. After paper is torn, roughen the edges between fingers.

    4. Dip fingers in water, then begin "curling" the torn edges outward (the curled edges will set as the water dries).

    5. Layer cardstock frame over photo (figure C), mount to page and embellish as desired.

    Crinkled Cardstock

To create crinkled cardstock, mist the surface lightly with water (figure D), then crumple. Uncrumple and allow texture to set as water dries (figure E).

    Pinwheel Embellishments

Bring back the fun of childhood by adding whimsical pinwheel designs to the page.

    Materials:

Double-sided cardstock (or two sheets with contrasting patterns, adhered together)
    Scissors
    1/16" hole punch
    Small brad

    1. Cut cardstock into 3" x 3" squares.

    2. Cut each corner diagonally from edge inward, stopping about 1/2" from the center (figure F).

    3. Punch one hole in a corner of each section, and one hole in center of square.

    4. Fold sections to center (figure G), then punch brad through all holes and secure on pack of square (figure H).

    5. Attach to scrapbook as desired.
