Want to add some fun to your pages? Try dressing and embellishing paper dolls that come from a kit. Here, designer C.D. Cross shares some ideas.

    • Add personality to pre-packaged paper dolls. Dress them or embellish any way you want. To add facial features, Cross uses a craft knife to alter the mouth into a "smile", then adds a brown paper strip behind the eye openings (figure A) to create eye color, and white paper to create a toothy grin.

    • To add movement to the dolls, limbs can be cut away (figure B) and repositioned after clothes have been added (figure C).

    • Use chalk to add cheek color or intensify skin tones. A pen can be used to add additional facial details or to define clothing patterns.
