Designer Jennifer O'Byrne uses chalk to complete an entire background scene.

    Materials:

Dazzling Doodle summer-themed templates (clouds, picket fence or beach motifs)
    Chalk Talk template
    Decorative chalks
    Cotton balls

    1. Begin working with the Chalk Talk template. Place template edge around bottom 1/3 of page. Use blue chalk to gently brush chalk from the template's edge, working to center of page, for a blended look (figure A).

    2. Use a piece of cardstock as a "straight edge." Gently shade brown lines at each valley (figure B) of the scallop design created in step 1. (This will create the picket fence). Move straight edge as you work across the page.

    3. Use templates to chalk floral (figure C) or beach designs as desired.

    4. Complete the page by turning cloud (or scallop) template in different directions on the upper portion of page. Chalk around edges and blend outward to create soft "clouds."

    5. Mat and adhere photos to page and journal as desired.
