Stamp designer Dee Gruenig shares her technique for achieving multiple colors -- all with one stamp! Materials: 12" x 12" Brick-patterned paper Opaque adhesive paper Matting paper Picket Fence rubber stamp Sunflower rubber stamp Field Flowers rubber stamp Hilltop rubber stamp Wild Grass rubber stamp Add-A-Sign rubber stamp Back-up paper and foam stamping pad Cleaning tray and damp rag Brush art markers Memory pen Scissors Paper cutter Decorative scissors Photos or photocopied images (one enlarged) Adhesive - Trim photos, then trim mats 1/4" larger than photos. Adhere photos to mats.
- Cut the enlarged photo as a silhouette (in this example, Gruenig trims the child's profile and tree from the photo). Stick to one side of brick paper, leaving 2" free at the bottom.
- Arrange matted photos and adhere to page, leaving about 4" of space at the bottom of page for additional stamped images.
- Use brush markers to add different shades of ink to the stamps (figure A). Stamp images onto sticker paper (one sign, 4 fences, 4 sunflower pairs, and 3 field flower bunches, mound of hilltop grass 6" long).
- Cut stamped images from sticker paper, leaving tiny white edges. Arrange fence along bottom -- one stamped image on the left and three on the right -- without adhering (figure B).
- Cut grass mount in half. Adhered the left half under the silhouette photo at an angle, trailing behind the fence. Secure the bottom of the enlargement over the cut edge of stamped grass image.
- Arrange right half of grass mound behind edge of left fence piece. Align even with bottom of brick paper, leaving fence top loose.
- Remove about 1/2" of backing from the bottom edges of fence pieces and adhere along bottom edge of paper. Leave fence top loose.
- Then, journal in sign. Stick sign and flowers behind fence top, keeping leaves pulled up to overlap the fence edge.
- Remove remaining backing from fence images and press over flower stems. Add remaining fence post to left fence image.
- Smooth leaves down over fence edge.
