    Figure B

Love the elegant look of embossed letters, but are a little disappointed with the lack of visual punch? If the subtlety isn't for you, but the raised texture is, take a look at this page from designer Paula Siebers!

    Materials:

    Dark green cardstock
    Dark red cardstock
    White cardstock
    Natural cardstock
    Pencil
    Eraser
    Green plaid paper for background
    Uppercase letter template
    Script font
    Large apple punch
    Chalks
    Journal Genie Empressor
    Jute
    1/16" hole punch

    1. Begin by punching five large applies in natural cardstock. Use chalks to color the apples five different colors.

    2. Print the names of different varieties of apples on natural cardstock, then tear edges to create 3" squares. Chalk around the edges with light brown chalk.

    3. Mount squares on green, then again on dark red. Punch small hole in top of each square, then lace jute through each hole and tie into a bow.

    4. Next, print "I Love" onto natural cardstock.

    5. Below printing, emboss the word "apples" in a vertical fashion using the lettering template. To do this, use a pencil to mark the placement of each letter (figure A).

    6. Next -- keeping template in place (use a small piece of tape if necessary) -- turn cardstock over. Use Empressor to deboss the letters (figure B). Lift cardstock to check letter placement as you work.

    7. When all letters are finished, use a small eraser to remove pencil marks, then chalk the letters with red chalk. Tip: Leave the template in place while "chalking" the letters to minimize smudges.

    8. Tear edges of cardstock to create title border and chalk edges with light brown.

    9. To complete, mount title on green, then on dark red. Assemble remaining elements.
