See Judy Joyce's foil embossing tips and technique in this video.

Designer Judy Joyce adds a touch of authenticity to her scrapbook page -- with embossed foil garden "tags"!

    Materials:

Botanical Leaves Stencil and Victorian Frame
    3/8" stencil brush
    Embossing Tool
    9" x 12" journal page
    8-1/2" x 11" Forest Green cardstock
    4-1/2" x 10" distressed tan craft paper
    5" x 7" piece of 36-gauge copper metal foil
    Thin-gauge copper wire
    White rubber stamp ink
8" x 10" piece of felt or poly-foam pad (for use as embossing pad)
    Small scissors
    Pencil
    Acid-free glue
    Photo
    Small hole punch
    Low-tack tape

    1. Begin by positioning the botanical leaves stencil on green cardstock, and tape into place. Use white ink to randomly stencil leaves over cardstock surface.

    2. Next, position the two small frames of the Victorian frame stencil along one side of the copper sheet and tape into place. Place copper sheet face up over the felt pad.

    3. Then, use the embossing tool to trace outline of each frame (figure A). Remove stencil and turn copper over.

    4. Write a plant name lightly with pencil in the center of the frame. For a deeper impression, trace the pencil line with an embossing tool (figure B).

    5. Carefully cut along the outer embossed edges of each frame, then punch a hole in the corner and attach a length of wire to it.

    6. Emboss two different leaves from the Botanical Leaves border on the remaining copper foil and carefully cut shapes along outside of embossed lines.

    7. Next, tear lower edge of craft paper and adhere to stenciled cardstock created in step 1.

    8. Finally, layer and attach photo, foil plant tags and leaf accents as desired.
