The pastel-hued vellum layered on this page echo both the colors found in the patterned paper and the beautiful wedding photos.

On this page, vellum accents were used to "grow" an 8-1/2" x 11" page to fill a 12" x 12" scrapbook page.

Vellum was also used to create a title down the side of this scrapbook page.

Looking for an alternative to ordinary photo corners? Give your corners a new look with vellum. Jarvey advises practicing the folding technique before working with vellum. Once fold lines appear on a vellum surface, they're permanent.

Designer Paulette Jarvey layers colored vellum to create page accents and photo corners.

Tip: When working with vellum, always work with a clear adhesive and try to hide the adhesive under a photo or other embellishment.

    A Day to Remember

    Materials:

Pastel floral or patterned papers in coordinating shades
Several shades of pastel vellum (to coordinate with patterned paper)
    Silver paper
    Silver photo corners
    Silver pen
    Acid-free stick glue
    Wedding photos

    1. First, crop and mat photos with 1/8" white mat, followed by a silver 3/8" mat.

    2. Select 3 coordinating shades of pastel vellum papers. Cut the lightest colors to 8" x 9"; the darkest, to 8" square.

    3. Begin layering vellums. Adhere lightest color centered toward top of patterned page.

    4. Turn medium shade sideways and layer, centered, on top of first vellum sheet.

    5. Then, adhere the darkest vellum, turned to look like a diamond, and centered over the previous two layers (figure A).

    6. Next, attach the photos with photo corners and add a matching journaling plaque. Use silver pen for journaling and titles.

    Creating Vellum Photo Corners

Tip: When working with vellum, stick glue seems to provide the best results.

    1. Fold small-medium vellum square in half vertically (figure B).

    2. Fold vellum in half horizontally (figure C).

    3. Begin folding layers down from top corner toward bottom corner. Avoid folding all the way to diagonal edge. Continue folding layers down to create a pocket (figure D) where the photo corner can be inserted.
