Watch this short video to see Amy Vander Poppen's technique for stamping a beautiful autumnal page.

By "aging" the edges of the pages with ink and stamping within punched stencils, designer Amy Vander Poppen creates a lovely autumn page with a vintage look.

    Materials:

    12" x 12" ivory or cream cardstock
Vellum paper (29 lb.) cut into 2" x 3" squares
    Small umber colored ink pad
    Dark brown ink pad
    Leaf punch
    Tree stamp
    Evergreen and copper metallic inks
Gradient ink pad with autumn colors
Pale green and golden ink pads
    Sponge daubers

    1. First, brush umber ink around the border of the scrapbooking page. Sweep the pad lightly against outer 1" perimeter to create an aged patina (figure A ).

    2. Then, use dark brown ink to "antique" the edges of the page. Pull paper about 1" off work surface or table. Tap the brown ink pad directly against the edge (figure B).

    3. Use leaf punch on the vellum squares to create a transparent leaf stencils.

    4. Position stencil on paper (just inside the lighter brown border) and hold in place as color is applied. Use sponge daubers to apply ink within stencils. Use two daubers at a time for best results (figure C). Mingle gradient ink colors, evergreen and copper metallic inks.

    5. To finish, stamp tree image around edges of page (over the light brown patina border) using the dark brown ink.

    6. Add photos, journaling and title to page as desired.<./OL>
