Additional journaling can be added inside a shuttered window or on the inner surface of a stamped door.

    Photo  WINDOWS MEDIA VIDEO
Review Anne-Marie Spencer's technique for creating a charming shuttered window by watching this quick video technique.

Want to present your photos in an interesting way? Consider using your rubber stamps to frame them in style. Anne-Marie Spencer shares her technique with DIY Scrapbooking host Sandi Genovese.

    Materials:

    Window stamp
Ink pad in color of choice
    White paper
    Scrapbook page
    Decorative rubber stamps
    Colored pencils
    Craft knife
    Colored cardstock or paper
    12" x 12" scrapbook page

    1. First, apply ink to stamp. Tip: For larger stamps, such as this window frame, apply the ink by brushing and gently pressing the stamp pad over the stamp until thoroughly coated (figure A).

    2. Then, stamp the image onto the white paper. Press firmly, but avoid "rocking" the stamp -- which can cause distortion.

    3. After ink has dried, lightly accent selected areas with colored pencils (figure B).

    4. Use craft knife to cut away center portion of window (figure C). Crop photo so that it can be centered within the window, and add to scrapbook page.

    5. Journal on a small, rectangular strip of colored cardstock or paper. Cut and adhere underneath each window.

    6. To create a closed window, first fold the shutters. Then, stamp a second window image on paper. Cut the shutters away from the second stamped image. Adhere shutters to back of the first shutters. Adhere photo behind the window. Add raffia or ribbon ties to the shutter edges. Tie together and adhere to page.

    7. Repeat technique as necessary to complete the page, and embellish as desired.
