Dee Gruenig creates a clever graduation invitation that can be used once and again -- as a bookmark! Materials: Checkered paper Opaque sticker paper Stamping mat Cleaning tray and wet cloth Brush art markers Bullet point markers Window frame stamp Scroll stamp Decorative stamp design of choice (a potted plant was used here) Scissors Craft knife Xyron sticker machine with adhesive Copy of color photo - Cut checkered paper into 2 strips, each 3" wide by 9-1/2" long.
- Run one strip through Xyron machine (alternately, apply glue to back surface all the way to edges).
- Adhere the two strips back-to-back. Tip: If applying a strip that has been run through the Xyron machine, peel away backing as you apply for the smoothest application.
- Then, stamp two window frames, two scrolls and eight or more flowers (or other decorative stamp) onto the opaque sticker paper. Use the brush art markers to coat the stamps before stamping the image.
- Next, cut the stamped images from the opaque paper, leaving tiny white edges. Cut away inside of window frames, again leaving a fraction of white paper outside the stamped lines.
- Trim the copied photo to fit behind the frame openings. Then, remove one side of sticker backing from each frame. Position the photos behind the frame and place frame and photo onto a flat surface. Replace backing temporarily.
- On the front frame, score the shutters and fold inward.
- Cut shutters from remaining stamped frame (figure A). Stick to back of the folded shutters.
- Then, remove remaining backing from the frame and photo and position onto top portion of checkered strip (figure B).
- Trim the sides of the checkered bookmark to the size of the window. Trim around the window frame, leaving a fractional edges.
- Apply the unshuttered window to the back of the bookmark.
- Journal on the stamped scrolls and add to bookmark under windows. Adhere remaining stamped images to the bookmark as desired.
