The same technique can be used to create endless page variations.

Teens' love of dressing up often extends to their lockers, notebooks and bedrooms. Now, with the help of special lettering templates, it can even extend to the scrapbook page! Vicky Breslin demonstrates her technique for using templates to create "dressed up" letters.

    Materials:

    Doodle-E-Do? templates
    Pencil
    Eraser
    Black marker
    Album
    Plain, light-colored paper
    Colored marker

    1. First, select letters, facial features and clothing from templates.

    2. On light-colored paper, use pencil to first draw letters, then draw character template slightly above the letter.

    3. Erase any mistakes as needed, then go over pencil lines with black marker (figure A).

    4. When image has dried, erase an errant marks still visible.

    5. Then, use colored markers to color letters. For best results, apply color in one stroke at a time, moving in one direction (figure B).

    6. When finished, use corner eyelets to attach to front of album (figure C), or mount paper directly to page.
