Because the card and envelope are one piece, it's equally easy to adhere to a scrapbook page or send through the mail. For mailing, simple leave the ribbon off and add a festive seal to the envelope.

This project uses punched "hand" shapes in an unusual way -- as evergreen foliage on a wreath. Look for creative uses for your existing punches when undertaking other holiday projects.

This Star Card opens to reveal a festive holiday or family photo inside. It's a great way to add a personal touch to holiday greeting cards.

DIY Scrapbooking host Sandi Genovese uses star die-cuts to create holiday cards that can be added to the page or sent via mail as special holiday expressions.

    Holiday Card Scrapbook Page

    Materials:

Holiday die-cuts (square frame, 3" ring, envelope, tree and hand)
    Die-cut machine
    Holiday stickers
    Gold metallic pen
    Paper in festive colors
    Double-stick tape and adhesive
    Hand punch
    Circle punch
    Ribbon
    Ivory scrapbook page

    1. First, die-cut the envelope shape.

    2. Then, use the frame die-cut to die-cut a mat in a color that contrasts with the envelope. Make sure the mat will fit within the folds of the envelope.

    3. Position photo behind the mat and create a gold metallic border around the square opening.

    4. Next, use pen to sign family name and date. Add other embellishments to the photo mat as desired.

    5. Mat the frame photo with a square the color of the scrapbook page. Attach completed piece to center section of the envelope.

    6. Then, die-cut 3" ring and attach double stick tape to front surface. Die-cut small hand shapes from two shade of green and attach to ring. Arrange hands so they appear like evergreen foliage. When satisfied with placement, press firmly to adhere.

    7. Attach completed wreath to top flap only of the envelope.

    8. Punch two holes in vertical row in each of the side flaps. Thread ribbon around the back and through each hole and tie in a bow (skip this step if mailing).

    9. Die-cut trees using two shades of green for foliage and two shades of brown for trunk. Mix and match pieces and adhere together to create various tree styles.

    10. Next, mount the finished card on the scrapbook page. Attach embellished trees to bottom row.

    11. Finish the page by adhering brightly colored circles cut with various sized hole and circular punches.

    3. Remove backing from gold paper (or add adhesive or tape) and attach to cover stars on card.Add family photo (cropped to fit), center on inner surface.
