Cool tools can help create effects that will enliven any page. Sandy Laipply of Fiskars uses a variety of gadgets and tools to create a pet page that begs for attention!

    Materials:

    Cropped photos
    Background page
Assortment of plain, solid colored paper
    Decorative corner punch
    Shape cutter
    Mat
    Letter templates
    Circle template
    Hold-punch
    Flexible wire
    Foam dots
    Glue or adhesive
    Scissors or craft knife

    1. First, trim plain paper (in your choice of color) 1/4" larger than the perimeter of the photo. Use a punch to add decorative corners (figure A) to the small square of paper (to create photo tabs).

    2. Mat photos by sliding corners into notches. Arrange as desired and adhere to page.

    3. To create letters, tape paper to work mat, then use shape cutter (figure B ) to cut the letters. Place template grid against paper's surface and begin cutting on a straight area. Cut inner letter shapes first, then reposition template and cut outer edges (figure C).

    4. Next, cut background for letters. Use circle template to cut small circles from a contrasting shade of paper. Arrange and adhere letters on circles, then attach circles to page. Leave the last letter off the page (which will cover the wire used in steps 5-7).

    5. Create "paw prints" by using a heart-shaped template. Modify the heart shape and surround with hold-punched circles (figure D). Arrange and adhere to page as desired.

    6. Then, sandwich piece of flexible wire between two circles (figure E). Use adhesive or glue to seal pieces together.

    7. Adhere bottom of wire to bottom of scrapbook page. Cover with letter mounted to circle. Use foam dot to adhere circle and elevate it from the page (figure F).
